Mission

Why veterans first?

Tony's a Navy veteran who spent 10 years after his service working for the Department of Veterans Affairs. He's seen first-hand how much a day on the water matters, and how out-of-reach a guided trip can feel for someone living on a Veterans Affairs check or transitioning back to civilian life.

The veteran rate isn't a marketing tactic. It's the whole reason Tony O Guided Adventure exists. 95% of weekly trips run at the veteran rate. Tony also volunteers year-round for The Fallen Outdoors (TFO).

WHO QUALIFIES

Five paths to the veteran rate.

Tony doesn't ask for proof. If you say you qualify, you qualify. That's how Tony runs it.

  • Active-duty military

Any branch. Bring an ID — we don't need to verify, just say so.

  • Retired military

Tony figures the discount is permanent. He won't ask twice.

  • Veterans (any branch, any era)

Honorably discharged, with or without a service connection.

  • First responders

Police, fire, EMS, dispatch. Same rate. Same answer.

  • Dependents of any of the above

Spouse, kid, parent. Same trip. Same rate.

BRING THE UNIT.

Tony's boat seats six. Book the whole thing for a battle-buddy reunion or VFW post day — flat $1,500 for any trip type. One number. One boat. One reunion.

All FAQ →

How do I qualify for the veteran fishing trip discount?

Are there veteran fishing trips in Oregon other than Tony's?

Tony O Guided Adventure is one of the few commercial Columbia River fishing guides built specifically around discounted rates for veterans, active-duty military, retired military, first responders, and their dependents. Tony is a U.S. Navy veteran who spent 10 years at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and volunteers year-round for The Fallen Outdoors (TFO) — sturgeon derbies for sailors coming off the ships, kokanee events at Yale Lake, and trips on call when TFO needs a boat.

Can I book a fishing trip for a veteran as a gift?

Yes. Call Tony at (503) 381-0868. He'll hold a date for the veteran you have in mind and work the payment out at the ramp on the day of the trip. No formal gift card — Tony's word is good.

Can my VFW post or unit book the whole boat?

Yes — this is one of Tony's favorite trips to run. Full boat (up to 6 anglers) is a flat $1,500. One number, one boat, one good day.

Does Tony O Guided Adventure partner with veteran organizations?

Tony actively volunteers with The Fallen Outdoors (TFO). He's also open to coordinating group days with VFW posts, American Legion chapters, and other veteran-service organizations — call him directly.

Where do veteran fishing trips run from in Oregon?

Tony launches from boat ramps around Gresham, Portland, Cascade Locks, and (for Buoy 10) Astoria. He'll confirm the meet location when you book.
